Hussalonia used to release a CD about once a year, but since 2006 has been releasing everything for free on this site. Why? Because as you already know, Hussalonia is not really a band, but a pop music cult. Like a civil servant, Hussalonia founder Jesse Mank toils away for hours upon hours to make music, not for fame and fortune, but for the people. By not releasing compact discs, Hussalonia reduces the consumption of fossil fuels (plastic), non-renewable minerals (aluminum), and the emission of greenhouse gasses (CO2 produced in transporting compact discs). Also, because the success of a nation is based solely on its economy, giving away music for free undermines this system which encourages rampant spending at the cost of the environment and human health.

Q. What does the name Hussalonia mean?
A. The name was taken from a series of stories written in polish by Mr. Mank's grandfather. It is a country, a family and a cult. The name significantly implies the word "alone" in the center, yet the "onia" suffix suggests a republic of people. The stories were intentionally burned by his grandfather just before his passing.

Q. Can I use a Hussalonia song in my movie/tv show/art project/website?
A. Probably. Just contact us and ask. Please note that remixes will not be possible as Hussalonia founder Jesse Mank erases all his masters once they are mixed.

Q. Does Hussalonia tour? Will they play a show in my town?
A. Probably not. Hussalonia Founder Jesse Mank rarely plays shows in his own hometown of Buffalo, NY. So, the likelihood of him traveling a long distance to play in your town seems improbable. Then there are a few other obstacles, like the lack of a regular backing band and the fact that Mr. Mank does not own a car. Serious offers will be considered.

A. Yes. Hussalonia is the all-purpose name Jesse Mank uses for his various endeavors. Other musicians will occasionally appear on Hussalonia recordings (see: The Public Domain, Marsupial Garamond Hussalonia, Matt Barber Hussalonia), but Mr. Mank likes to works alone.

A. Because Hussalonia is not really a band, but a pop music cult. Hussalonia founder Jesse Mank considers himself a civil servant of sorts: toiling away for hours upon hours to make music not for fame and fortune, but for the people.
